NETWORKING

This is a critical marketing tool for both businesses and individuals.

Consultant Dave Sherman (www.thenetworkingguy.com) said you should learn to sell yourself in 30 seconds or less.

He said:

  1. “Understand what networking truly is giving.  You must give. Be a personal and professional resource for others and expect nothing in return.”
     
  2. “Anyone can go to a function and hand out business cards, that’s prospecting.  Networking is connecting with people. It should not be confused with selling.”
     
  3. “Use the W.E.L.C.O.M.E. acronym as a guide.”
    W = Warm greeting
    E = Enormous smile
    L = Listening ear
    C = Compliment
    O = Open mind
    M = Motivating comment
    E = Introduction
  4. The 30 second speech with the 10 second introduction.  In the 10 second introduction tell them how you will benefit them.
